La Perla follows a young woman on the night she finally sees her boyfriend for who he is. A glance at a passing waitress cracks something open and pulls her through every memory of his infidelity, each one materializing as a pearl added to the necklace around her neck. The weight becomes unbearable. She walks out, and in her collapse, the pearls scatter; her pain made physical. The film loops back to its opening shot, but this time she doesn't walk in. Her hand rests on a single diamond pendant instead: herself, chosen, whole.
